Good Practice in PPD,, Section 12: 10 Practical Tips – Tip#9: Understanding the Risks

This section introduces Tip #9 for better PPD implementation and results, namely understanding the risks that come with it. PPD is not a panacea – when done badly, it can waste time and resources. Six principal risks have been identified, together with the strategies to mitigate them:

1. Political economy and institutional misalignment;
2. Refining vested interest
3. Over and under representation
4. One man shows
5. Sustainability issues
6. Political risks

Along with the elaborate explanation of each of these risks, strategies which can be used to mitigate them have been identified.
